Training camp has been a lot different for the Dallas Cowboys this off season as they no longer have the cameras on them 24/7 for the HBO series Hard Knocks, that covers an NFL team's journey through training camp each season. This year with their focus switched to the Detroit Lions, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are able to strictly focus on football. There also isn't the drama surrounding Dak's contract this season as a distraction, and as a result of this, team owner Jerry Jones has been very high on his franchise Quarterback.

Jerry Jones has said that this training camp for Dak has been his best one yet. This of course made headlines, as does anything Jerry says. However, if these are accurate reports, this news is significant as this offense will be asking Dak to do a lot, and carry a big load, at least through the early part of the season. In the absence of Amari Cooper, the Cowboys acquired James Washington from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, like Michael Gallup, health and availability early on in the season are major concerns, and are in question.

We all know how significant Amari was to Dak's development and growth as a QB. So it will certainly be interesting to see how he performs now that he is without his former number one guy. But, the hope around Cowboys camp is that Cedee Lamb will fit right into that number one role, after playing behind Amari for his first two seasons in the NFL.

Good news for Dak Prescott is the hopefull emergence of rookie receiver Jalen Tolbert. Tolbert unfortunately did not have the greatest of showings in his first NFL action in the Cowboys preseason opener against the Broncos, but reports as of late have been more positive. This week the Cowboys and Chargers went through joint practices together and Tolbert has been shining more as a deep ball threat. If Tolbert can grow on a connection with Dak then it will be a great help as through the first few weeks of the season, their receiver room could be rather empty.

The NFC East is getting more competitive with the Eagles making significant offseason moves, and we will see how much better the Commanders will be with Carson Wentz under center. But, if the Cowboys truly have the best version of Dak Prescott that we have ever seen, then there is no telling how far he can take them. However, the question will still be if Dak can get these Cowboys their first playoff win since 2018?
