Patriots, Rams make splashes, NYG get depth receivers

June 1 is always significant around NFL circles as teams are allowed to release or trade players and spread their remaining dead money over two seasons rather than taking entire salary cap hits at the time of the trade or release.

RAMS LOADING UP

Just one season after signing his record-breaking four-year 160 million dollar contract, with 123.5 million of it guaranteed at signing, former DPOY, and current single season record holder for sacks in a season, Myles Garret has been traded from the Cleveland Browns to the L.A Rams.

Los Angeles traded a first-round pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, a third-round pick in 2029, and former first-round pick and 2024 DROY, edge rusher Jared Verse, to Cleveland in exchange for Garrett. Verse is a very promising young talent in the league, already making two Pro Bowls and coming off a 7.5-sack, 3 forced fumbles season in his second year.

Despite Browns GM Andrew Berry declaring just a few short months ago that Myles would be a 'career Brown', Garret joins a loaded Rams team who were already favourites to win the Super Bowl.

EAGLES MOVING ON

After four seasons and a Super Bowl ring in Philadelphia, A.J Brown is reuniting with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel, in New England. Writing was on the wall as things in Philly for Brown grew sour. His relationship with the media, his head coach Nick Sirrianni, and his once-good friend and quarterback Jalen Hurts. Even following the Super Bowl win, Brown went to socials with a cryptic message about how he was yet to be satisfied in football.

Brown gets a fresh start, and Drake Maye and the Patriots get themselves a much-needed weapon at the receiver position, adding to the Romeo Doubs from the Packers, following their trip to the Super Bowl.

The trade had been discussed for months and was all but official according to some sources. Despite reports of that, Schefter also announced that the Eagles were in on the Myles Garret trade discussions. Regardless, Philly moves on, and New England sends a first-round draft pick in 2028 and a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange.

VETS IN THE BIG APPLE

A reunion in New York -- Odell Beckham Jr, is back with the Giants. Another veteran is joining Beckham at the receiver position in Juju Smith-Schuster.

The Giants now have 14 players in the receiving position on their depth chart.

The Giants' loud offseason continued with the addition of these two vets, however, the signings raise a bit of concern around Malik Nabers. As Nabers continues to recover from his complicated knee injury he suffered last September, he got a second surgery to clean up some of the continued issues from the initial surgery, Adam Schefter explained.

Schefter said on GET UP, "It was not planned. It was not expected. The team says it is hopeful -- hopeful -- that he'll be ready for the Sunday night regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Clearly, he's a long way away from being ready."

As Nabers continues to rehab throughout the offseason, the addition of Odell and Juju will add a bit of depth for the Giants, at least early in the season.
