A winning streak came to an end at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto last night as the Maple Leafs saw their seven-game heater come to an end at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights in a 6-2 home loss. However, as the pexi glass and boards are taken down in place for hardwood, Scotiabank Arena, and the Toronto Raptors prepare to continue on a winning streak of their own.

The Raptors, currently one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference, have shown significant improvement since losing three straight before the All-Star break. With wins over the Nets, Hawks, and Pacers, tonight's game vs the Dallas Mavericks poses a significant test for them.

The Raptors seem to have flipped the switch coming out of the break as they continue their push for a play-in spot. Newly acquired Raptor Immanuel Quickley has quickly found his footing and become a bright spot for the team, particularly in managing the point guard position. The offence has been coming more easily for the Raps with Quickley at the point, especially over the last three games. The Raptors have ranked sixth in the league in offensive rating post All-Star Break, and are scoring 122.6 points per game. In comparison, the Raps for the entire regular season ranked nineteenth, averaging 114.3 points per game. Though his assist numbers may not be off the charts, Quickley's continued comfort in his new role and high level of playmaking have been instrumental to the Raptors' offence, and the flow of their game over this winning streak.

With the Mavericks coming to town the Raps are set for one of the toughest matchups in the league. Luka is of course a matchup nightmare. Being as dynamic off the dribble as he is, and at 6’7 his playmaking is horrifying for any defender. Not to mention Luka's running mate in the backcourt, Kyrie Irving along with the additional size the Mavs added through deadline acquisitions in P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford. With centre Jakob Poeltl questionable with a sore ankle, it will be interesting to see Head Coach Darko Rajakovic’s defensive approach as the Raptors look to hold off the Mavs and continue their strong play.

Tip-off at Scotiabank Arena is at 7:30 PM this evening, with the Raptors currently set as 2.5 points underdogs and the total set at 239.5.
