On Monday night, Victor Wembanyama and the 8-34 Sacramento Spurs traveled to the 29-13 Philadelphia to face off against reigning MVP Joel Embiid. Embiid welcomed rookie sensation Wembanyama to the NBA with an all-time performance. Embiid stuffed the stat sheet with a franchise record-breaking 70 points and tallied 18 rebounds as he put on a historic show for the home fans. Of course, 21 of Embiid’s points came at the free throw line in typical Embiid fashion. Nevertheless, breaking any record previously held by Wilt Chamberlain is extremely impressive, and with this performance, Embiid looks to be well on his way to securing his second and back-to-back MVP awards.

On the other end of the floor, rookie Wembanyama put up an impressive 33 points, while grabbing 7 boards, and getting 2 blocks. Following the rookie’s performance tonight, he is the only player in NBA history to average 20 + PPG, 10 + RPG, 2 + BPG, and 1 + 3 PM. However, Wembanyama and the Spurs were unable to stop Embiid from his dominating performance, as they fell to the Sixers 133-123.
The Spur's next game is against another MVP contender, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night in Sacramento, while the Sixers travel to Indiana to play Pascal Siakam and the new-look Pacers.
